Amazon does not accept M-Pesa, and many Kenyan debit cards are declined there. You can still shop on Amazon from Kenya without an international card: buy an Amazon gift card with M-Pesa, add it to your Amazon account, and pay for your order from the balance. This guide explains how it works, which Amazon store to use, what delivery to Kenya involves, and the mistakes to avoid.

The short answer

Create an account on the Amazon store you want to shop on. For most people that is Amazon.com (US).
Buy an Amazon gift card for that same store and pay with M-Pesa.
Redeem the claim code: the money becomes your Amazon gift card balance.
Place your order. The balance is used automatically at checkout.

Which Amazon store? The card has to match

Each Amazon gift card only works on the store it belongs to. A US card works on Amazon.com, a UK card on Amazon.co.uk, a UAE card on Amazon.ae. A US card cannot be spent on Amazon UK or Amazon UAE.

Store	Good for
Amazon.com (US)	The widest range, including many items that ship directly to Kenya, plus Kindle books
Amazon.ae (UAE)	Closer to Kenya; useful if you use a Dubai-based forwarder
Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.de	UK and European products, often bought through a parcel forwarder

Getting your order to Kenya

There are two ways:

Direct delivery. On Amazon.com, set Deliver to at the top of the page to Kenya. Products that can be shipped here show it on the product page, and checkout shows the shipping cost and an import fees deposit that covers customs. Your gift card balance pays the order total.
Through a parcel forwarder. For items that do not ship to Kenya, you can deliver to a forwarding address abroad from a forwarding service, which then ships the parcel to Nairobi for its own fee. Compare the forwarder's charges before you order.

How to buy and redeem the card

Open our Amazon gift cards page and choose a card for your store, for example Amazon Gift Card $25 (USA).
Pay in shillings with M-Pesa. The claim code is emailed to you, normally within seconds.
On Amazon.com, go to Account → Gift cards → Redeem a gift card, paste the claim code and apply it.
Shop as normal. At checkout the gift card balance is applied first.

US Amazon card prices at iTey Store:

Card	Price in Kenya
Amazon Gift Card $10 (USA)	KSh 3,150
Amazon Gift Card $25 (USA)	KSh 5,400
Amazon Gift Card $50 (USA)	KSh 9,100

Prices checked on 28 October 2026. UK, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Canadian and UAE cards, and live prices, are on the Amazon page.

Work out the full cost first

Add the item price, shipping and the import fees deposit shown at checkout before you buy the card, then buy enough balance to cover the total. If the balance is short, Amazon asks for another payment method for the rest. Balances add up, so two $25 cards give you $50. Anything left over stays on the account for next time.

Mistakes to avoid

Buying the wrong store's card. Check the store before you pay; a UK card cannot be used on Amazon.com.
Forgetting shipping and import fees. The product price is not the whole cost of delivery to Kenya.
Buying cheap codes from strangers. Amazon locks accounts that redeem codes bought with stolen cards, and the balance is lost. Buy from a registered shop that replaces a code that fails.
